What I’m Wearing for Training Right Now

If there’s one thing marathon training teaches you very quickly, it’s this: your running gear matters. Not in a “must buy everything” way — but in a comfort, confidence and zero-chafing kind of way.

So far this week’s training involved constant rain, wind, and an Olympic-level amount of puddle dodging, so I feel very qualified to share what I’ve been wearing — and loving — on my winter runs.

🖤 Running Leggings: Lululemon Fast and Free High-Rise Tight

Lululemon Running leggings

These are, without question, my go-to marathon training leggings.

They’re:

  • Super soft and incredibly comfortable

  • Lightweight but supportive

  • Equipped with five pockets (five!)

  • Finished with reflective dots on the legs — perfect for dark winter runs

They also do something truly magical… they make your butt look peachy 🍑
Which, let’s be honest, never hurts when you’re clocking up the miles.

💚 Long-Sleeve Run Top: Lululemon Swiftly Tech Long-Sleeve Shirt 2.0 (Waist Length)

Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve Top

I have this in the brightest green, which has been very welcome during grey, rainy runs.

What I love:

  • Sits perfectly at the waist (not too long, not cropped)

  • Super flattering and breathable

  • Doesn’t cling when wet (important!)

It’s one of those tops you forget you’re wearing — which is exactly what you want on long or hard sessions.

🖤 Sports Bra: Lululemon Energy Longline Bra

lululemon Energy Longline Bra

This bra is simply the GOAT.

  • Supportive without feeling restrictive

  • A lovely neckline (not too low, not too high)

  • Beautiful strap detail on the back

It stays put, feels secure, and looks good — and honestly, if it’s good enough for Taylor Swift, it’s definitely good enough for me.

🌧️ Outer Layer: Sweaty Betty Ultimate Train Water Resistant Jacket

Sweaty Betty Water Resistant Jacket

This jacket has been a lifesaver this week.

  • Keeps you dry in rain

  • Cuts the wind beautifully

  • Breathable (no bin-bag vibes)

  • Cinches in at the waist for a flattering fit

It’s practical and makes you feel pulled together — even when the weather is doing its worst.

🧦 Socks: SPORKS – “Girls Can Do Anything”

Sporks

Because socks matter more than people realise.

These are:

  • Comfortable

  • Reliable

  • And a great little reminder mid-run that yes… girls can do hard things 💪

🧢 Cold Weather Essential: RUNR Woolly Hat

Fleece lined running hat

For those colder mornings, this has been on repeat.

It keeps me warm, fits well, and doesn’t feel bulky — exactly what you want when the temperature drops but the miles don’t.

⌚ Tech I Never Run Without

All runs this week were tracked using:

  • Apple Watch Ultra

  • Strava

  • Runna

Together they keep me accountable, motivated and (mostly) honest about my pace.

Final Thoughts

This is the kit that’s getting me through the early weeks of my Sydney Marathon build — comfortable, reliable, and confidence-boosting even when the weather is miserable.

Because when it’s cold, wet and windy, the right gear doesn’t just make runs easier — it makes you want to show up.
