My Summer 5 Favs
How is it August already? So far we’ve had a great summer weather wise, although right now I am sitting by the pool on holiday and it’s baking! It is hard at times to still feel put together when it’s mega hot. Grab something cold and I will share my top favourites at the moment on beauty, fitness and fashion.
Beauty
There are so many great items out there at the moment, but these are my top products at the moment.
This dry oil is stunning, it is not too shimmery, so you don’t feel like you are full of glitter, like your mum in the early 90s. It leaves your skin looking it’s absolute best, it gives you a fabulous glossy finish but it’s not sticky, as it dries down quickly, which means you don’t feel like a greasy mess. It is worth every penny, who doesn’t want their skin to look its best this summer. No brainer, get it.
I am a pale girly so fake tan is a must for me, but I don’t have much time, so an express tan is a saviour. After trying many brands IOP express mousse is brilliant, it goes on well, and you can wash it off after 30mins and the tan will continue to develop afterwards, it will give you a nice glow, perfect for hols.
Ultra Violette Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF 50+
I don’t need to preach about good SPF, there are so many options. I am currently using ultra violette supreme screen and loving how it goes on and makes my skin look really hydrated. It leaves your face with a lovely glow. It is expensive, but worth the investment. Let it sit for a good 30 mins before you apply makeup to avoid any pilling.
If you want beach ready mermaid wavy hair, then this tool from GHD is perfect. No skills required, you just run it from mid way down your hair to the bottom, in sections, and it gives you incredible waves. Such an easy tool to use to give you the effortless beach look.
Self Glow Dusk to Dawn by James Read
This overnight self tan glow serum is so natural, it is by far the best out there. It gives you such a nice healthy glow. It has all the good skin care ingredients you would expect from this high end product like, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and vitamin E. I have tried loads of face drops but this gives the most natural finish. I bought mine at Space NK.
Fitness
Keeping your fitness goals up during the summer isn’t always easy, you have to contend with the heat, and the fact that you might have a two week break planned away. Top tip is run early when it is cooler and don’t forget to stock up on your electrolytes. Here a few essentials I can’t do without.
I didn’t get the fuss about visors until I ran the London marathon. It was the hottest on record and the marshals were telling people to take off their hats due to the heat. Wearing a visor keeps the sweat and sun off your face, but allows the heat to escape which is exactly what you need on the hot days, but importantly prevents you from over heating. This one from Lululemon makes me feel like a tennis girly, but importantly has a removable sweat band and adjustable strap, and of course looks very stylish.
Having a pocket big enough for your phone in your running shorts is a non negotiable for me. When SB brought out new running shorts with bicycle shorts underneath I was sold. They look cute and they have them in several colours, top marks from me.
I just love Hoka trainers, if they are good enough for Susie Chan then they are good enough for me. They have all kinds to suit all activities. A few weeks ago I bought the carbon fibre Skyward X. I won’t bore the non runners here, but they are very plush and responsive, let’s see how my PB’s improve.
It wasn't until running this week in Spain that I realised how much my electrolytes help. Running in heat is hard for anyone, but ensuring you are fully hydrated is so important, these Hydro electrolytes are excellent to ensure you have all the right minerals and vitamins to keep you going.
I have a few of these running glasses from SunGod, the most important thing is they don’t move and are super comfortable. They are light weight and help with any glare. I have them both in the mirrored finish pink & green. Great investment.
Fashion
I honestly thought I would never be one of those girly that wore crocs. Then they came out with platform versions and I thought, ok, something a bit more interesting. So I bought a stone pair, added some bling with some gold and pearl giblets, and I am loving them. Perfect for the beach or just slipping on around the house. Who am I? Send help !
Retro is definitely back, driven mostly by the oasis reunion. If you are not wearing a retro polo short, a bucket hat and parka you are missing out on a cultural movement. This polo hits the mark, with baggy jeans and sambas, your look will be on point.
With summer still giving, this is a perfect no fuss dress, bang on trend and a great price from M&S. Wear it with black flats and a black cross body. Perfect effortless style.
I have a few of these bikinis and I love how they look. The vibrant colours look so good on holiday. This one has a nice twist to the bikini top, they are a bit expensive but I love mine.
You just can’t beat a good pair of denim shorts, and Levis always hit the mark. They are soft, wash so well and look great with everything. I have them in many colours and love them for the warmer months.
Hope you enjoyed my Summer Favourites update. S x
